Ember Studio

3806 Denman Rd

Ember Blair is a multi-talented artist whose ceramic works and paintings are imbued with movement and light. Her claywork is unique and sometimes whimsical, and her paintings reflect the beauty and light of her surroundings. Ember is mostly self-taught, but over the years she has worked with and learned from painter Judi Wild, glass artist Paul Crawford, potters Gordon Hutchens and Cathy Jefferson, and sculptor Beth Cavener.

During an informal pottery apprenticeship with Gordon Hutchens, Ember fell in love with with clay and all the magical things it could do. It looked like clay would be her artistic calling, and for several years, it was. However, when her life took an unexpected turn (which included a pandemic), Ember rediscovered her first love—painting—and within a year she was producing work that was well beyond that of her earlier years. She now divides her time between painting and working with clay.

During the Studio Tour, Ember’s work in both mediums will be on display at the Denman Island Guesthouse. You can see more of Ember's work here.
