7. Linda Adair - Linda Adair Art

Studio location5265 Lacon Road, Denman Island

In the mid 90s I took a ceramics course with Denman potter Wendy Neufield.

This led me to becoming her apprentice and I worked alongside her for ten years learning my craft. We mainly focused on wheel thrown functional ware, some hand building and some sculpture.

Then life took over with two teenage boys, working in the medical field and a huge renovation of our home.

Painting, whether acrylic or oil, was a lifelong passion and somehow I was able to find time here and there to paint between all my other obligations. I usually paint in acrylics.

Five years ago after retirement, I  discovered the art of  stained glass and mosaics and spent many hours learning this new art form.  At this time I was also working with clay again and started making functional ware and sculptures and experimenting with different glazes. I use a variety of clays such as dark, light and speckled stoneware and porcelain. I make functional wheel thrown pieces and small sculptures.

One sentence description of art. For a quick glance idea of what people might expect to find at your studio, list the type of art (painting, pottery, sculpture, etc) and the medium (reclaimed, recycled, oil, acrylic, paper) and any simple descriptors (realism, narrative, practical, abstract).

My art is threefold;  acrylic or oil painting, stained glass and mosaics, and last but not least, ceramics which consist of wheel thrown, hand built and sculptural pieces.
