11. Lynsey Paterson

Studio location1661 Dalziel Road, Denman Island

Lynsey Paterson presents an eclectic mix of acrylic paintings inspired by family and West Coast life. Her lighthearted imagery describes a local, humble island lifestyle.

"I love being Canadian. In my art I depict the great life that we live here – farms, beaches, orcas, bears and birds," says Lynsey, who paints on canvas or board in a naïve style. Her acrylics are mounted in aged frames or salvaged windows.

Lynsey, mother of four, has been creating art and making a living as a full-time artist for more than 20 years.

After art school, Lynsey taught ceramics for many years in West and North Vancouver. Her artistic priority has evolved from ceramics to folk art painting.

"I like to be part of a studio tour because it pushes me to come up with new ideas," she says. "It has been super fun!"

Beyond family and art, Lynsey enjoys the Denman community and the inspiration of nature.

Lynsey’s work is also available at the Denman Island Craft Shop.
