Katarina Meglic is a graduate of the Victoria College of Art and the Pacific Design Academy, and has also studied at the Barcelona Academy of Classical Art and the Florence Classical Arts Academy. Extensive, gallery-focused travels through Europe and New York continue to inform her practice. She has exhibited in British Columbia, Alberta, and Berlin, and has participated in artist residencies across Europe.

In her work, Kataria creates space for her human and feline subjects to whisper their stories against a backdrop of abstract and ornamental elements. The work is devotional, joyful, and playful, with vivid colour, expressive line, and thick textures.

Katarina lives and works on Denman Island, BC, on what she respectfully acknowledges as the unceded traditional territory of the K’omoks First Nation. She is fond of the smell of roses and turpentine, and everything she owns is covered in paint.
