5. Fireweed - Morningstar Studio
Studio location: 1935 Lacon Road
Fireweed begins with sculptural compositions of natural materials — seaweed, leaves, textures of the island — and transforms them into photographic works on canvas, paper, and fabric.
As an activist and mixed media artist with a passion for photography, I find endless inspiration exploring and documenting the intricate details of our marine and terrestrial environments. This process is foundational to my interpretive work in the studio and 'Island Textures' series.
My background in the arts includes various colleges and universities (Emily Carr College of Art & Design – sculpture grad, 1981), solo exhibits in BC and Ontario and group shows in Canada, the USA, Jamaica and Japan.
